Job Descriptions – Figure Meets
Announcer (1 position) – use the microphone to briefly address the audience and swimmers at various points during the meet. Announce opening of the meet and ending of the meet with results.
Skills – a clear speaking voice.
Caller (2 positions) -- call out the swimmer number and the figure to be performed, then call out the judge’s scores. Skills: strong, clear speaking voice, good eyesight.
Recorder (4 positions) -- write down the figure scores on the correct line for each swimmer as the caller says them.
Skills: legible handwriting, good hearing.
Master Recorder (2 positions) - write down the all figure scores on a master figure sheet as the caller says them.
Skills: legible handwriting, good hearing
Writer (2 positions) -- record the individual swimmer scores master figure sheets.
Skills: legible handwriting, good hearing, basic addition, the ability to look up numbers in a table. No math!
Tabulator (2 positions) – tally individual swimmer’s figure scores for the meet, determine figure placement, and determine the meet winner.
Skills: legible handwriting, basic addition, sorting, ranking and problem resolution.
Runner (2 positions) – carry completed figure score sheets between writer’s tables and to the scorer’s table (once all four figures are completed).
Skills: mobility – a great position for a swimmer’s sibling.

Announcer (1 position) -- use the microphone to briefly address the audience (read script); announce routines, announce scores, close meet by announcing results.
Skills: a clear speaking voice.
Tabulator (2 positions) -- tally the routine scores for the meet; determine placement, and determine the meet winner using forms provided.
Skills: legible handwriting, good hearing, basic addition, the ability to look up numbers in a table, sorting, ranking and problem resolution .
Timer (3 positions) -- use a stop watch to record deck and overall time for each routine. Circle middle time and make referee aware of any routine exceeding time maximums.
Music (1 position) -- collect all music, label order/or install on computer, perform sound check for each routine, and play music; return music to each school. CDs, Ipods, Computers
Runner (2 positions) – collect routine scores from each judge after each routine and deliver them to the scorer’s table.
