Visualize – Picture yourself performing figure perfectly and confidently, think through coaches’ comments. Practice your plan.
Stretch – (synchro yoga = nose to knees, runners lunge, splits, plank, upward & downward dog, nose to knees)
WHAT TO BRING:
- Required plain black suit and white cap, nose plugs, goggles, towel
- Team warm-up
- Snacks, water
- Routine music and player to land drill
- Confident and positive attitude
- Good luck wishes for big/little sis
WHAT TO FOCUS ON:
Ø Remember all the corrections/comments from coaches and put them together in a positive plan.
Ø Stay relaxed internally.
Ø Support and encourage your teammates & little sisters.
WHEN PERFORMING FIGURES REMEMBER TO:
- smile at the judges and show a graceful entrance and exit
- show a GREAT layout (dry suit, shoulders squeezed back, seat tucked under, legs & feet squeezed together, toes pointed)
- stretch and extend body, show good posture all the time
- Lengthen and extend every muscle all the time…lock knees straight especially Ballet Legs and Split/walkout, squeeze seat especially on descent, point toes ALWAYS!!!!)
- Show an even tempo throughout – with pauses at positions (unless otherwise specified)
- Be precise in body positions (e.g.; right angles, compact tucks)
- Be confident and make it appear effortless!!!!
WHAT TO DO BEFORE ROUTINE MEET

Ø EXECUTION (solid entries, straight legs, toes pointed, tight & straight verticals, height)
Ø PRESENTATION (high eggbeater, chin up, shoulders back, look judges in eyes and communicate the music to them)
Ø SYNCHRONIZATION (guide for precise formations and togetherness, be sharp and on count.

WHAT TO DO AFTER ROUTINES/MEET:
- Provide feedback and encourage teammates (what they did well and what they can improve for next time)
- Congratulate competitors if they placed ahead of you (demonstrate good sportsmanship) and be inspired to do better the next time
- Clean up your messes in the bleacher area and locker room
- Check to make sure you didn’t forget anything
- Be proud of yourself for your performance and great learning experience.
